Door Services can help you.  The garage door spring is the single most important and most dangerous component on your garage door. There are typically two types of garage door springs - torsion springs and extension springs. The spring does all of the work in lifting your door. Many people believe that the opener does the work but that is simply not true. The entire weight of the garage door is lifted by the spring. Most of the time when you have a broken spring you will know it. In most cases the opener will not lift a door with a broken spring. Repairs like spring replacement are best left up to the professional.

What Kind of Garage Door Spring Do You have?

Broken garage door cables are also a common problem. The garage door cable is what carries the weight of the door to the bottom section and lifts the door with the forces provided by the spring. Broken cables will often appear to be a problem with your opener or may cause your garage door to come off track and get sideways in the opening. At this point extreme care should be taken to repair the door before damage occurs or the door falls off the track entirely and on to your car. Again, unless you know what you are doing this type of repair is best left up to an experienced professional.
